The International Livestock Research Institute is an international agricultural research organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. They recently selected AKCP as their partner for real-time remote monitoring of their Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Campus.
The monitoring system included the AKCP sensorProbeX+ base units, together with sensors for monitoring temperature, power, voltage, fuel and water tanks.
The campus involved several locations. AKCPro Server was deployed as the centralized monitoring software for the system.
Generators
Two generators are monitored (1,200 KVA and 6,000 KVA). Monitoring is done via Modbus RS485 connection to the gensets. Both the internal (5,000 liter) and external (15,000 liter) fuel tanks are monitored with Tank Depth Sensors (TDPS) to alert when tanks need refueling. Dual Temperature and Humidity Sensors (THS00) are used to monitor the environmental conditions at the ATS.
Water Tanks
Two water tanks, 4.5 meters and 14 meters deep, are monitored for their liquid level using the Tank Depth Sensors (TDPS).
Labs and Cold Rooms
The campus comprises of 5 rooms that required monitoring for power, temperature and humidity. The AC Voltage Sensor (ACV00) is used to detect the presence or absence of ACV at each room, with Dual Temperature and Humidity Sensors (THS00) monitoring the environmental conditions.
ICT Data Center
The data center is monitored for temperature, humidity and water leaks. Dual Temperature and Humidity Sensors monitor the environmental conditions, with a 20ft Rope Water Sensor (RWSC20) deployed to detect leaks.
