AKCP Announces NIST Calibrated Temperature Sensors for Wireless Tunnel™ Platforms With Accuracy Check and Automatic Failover
The world’s oldest and largest supplier of network-enabled sensors releases an updated range of temperature sensors. The NIST2 sensors feature 2x NIST traceable, calibrated temperature sensors and an internal calibration integrity check. NIST4 sensors feature 4x NIST traceable, calibrated sensors with internal calibration integrity check and failover.
“If you care about monitoring, wouldn’t you like to know that your sensor is always calibrated?” said Brad Klein, Founder of AKCP.
The sensors are suitable for use in any situation when the accuracy and reliability of the data are imperative. Typical usage would be in pharmaceuticals where the monitoring of temperature in medical refrigerators, vaccines, and temperature-sensitive drugs is critical. AKCP has dedicated sensors designed for the pharmaceutical industry with glycol jar attachment for the sensor to comply with industry best practices.
Both the NIST2 and NIST4 sensors have internal calibration integrity checking. In this technology, the sensors work in pairs, with the values compared once a second. If a difference greater than the stated tolerance of the sensor is detected, an alarm is raised to warn that the sensor is out of calibration. For a higher level of accuracy, an average of the sensor pairs is calculated.
NIST4 sensors additionally include a failover function. 4x NIST traceable, calibrated sensors operate in 6 pairs. The average of each pair is calculated, then an average is taken of the 6 pairs. This results in a higher level of accuracy but also multiple failovers. When a pair is detected as being out of calibration, its values are ignored and an alarm is raised indicating that a pair is out of calibration. In the event of a failure, you have a continuous operation, graphing, and monitoring of the environmental conditions.
For ease of installation in hard-to-reach areas, medical and laboratory refrigerators, NIST2 and NIST4 sensors can also come equipped with AKCP Wireless Tunnel™ technology. Battery-operated sensors with 10-year battery life, IP66 waterproof enclosure, and internal antenna. The Wireless Tunnel™ Sensors (WTS) act as data loggers when outside of the range of a Wireless Tunnel™ Gateway (WTG) the sensors will continue to log data internally, synchronizing all collected data to the WTG once within range.
All sensor data collected on the AKCP Wireless Tunel Gateway (WTG) and can be monitored via the internet through the embedded HTML5 web interface. An optional cellular data modem for remote locations and SMS alerts can be added. AKCP also offers a cloud monitoring service, or their central management platform, AKCPro Server.
